I was listening to an awesome sermon on fasting this morning in the car. The preacher quoted a writer from 500 years ago (he did not give the name) who said:
Jesus has many who love his kingdom in heaven, but few who bear his cross; He has many who desire comfort but few who desire his suffering; He finds many to share his feasts but few share his fasts; All desire to rejoice with him but few to suffer for his sake; Many follow Jesus to the breaking of bread but few to drinking the cup of the passion; Many admire his miracles but few follow him to his humiliation of the Cross.
